Lip Glace
hadn’t spoken to her in months
hadn’t seen her since
snow fell then melted then froze itself {again}
here now apologizing
looking for paper trails back to
friends
when from her
{she still had}
the lip gloss
I bought her when
belatedly, I said
happy birthday darling
she didn’t seem to notice
me noticing at all
relieved to see its
{incandescent} existence
like
no-big-deal
but maybe {perhaps}
she swept the memory of me
{intentionally}
upon lips I knew {someday}
I’d have to kiss
